Paediatric First Aid (Twelve Hour Course)

The Paediatric First Aid (Twelve Hour Course) meets the requirements of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EFYS) and the needs of Ofsted. It is suitable for childminders, nursery and school staff, and anybody who deals with children and wants a more in-depth course. This two day (12 hour) course is delivered at your venue and includes both theory and practical sessions.

Course Objectives

On successfully completing this course the candidate will be able to demonstrate and understand, in compliance with EFYS required syllabus:

  • First Aid Priorities
  • Managing Incidents
  • Basic Life Support – Adult, Child and Baby
  • Choking
  • Casualty Examination
  • Unconsciousness
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Bleeding and Shock
  • Asthma
  • First Aid Kits
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Burns and Scalds
  • Eye and Ear Injuries
  • Fractures
  • Childhood illnesses including Meningitis and Febrile Convulsions
  • Regulations

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment, there is no final examination. Those delegates who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are awarded a certificate that is valid for three years.
