Paediatric First Aid (Six Hour Course)

The Paediatric First Aid (Six Hour Course) provides a training qualification suitable for Nannies wishing to join the voluntary part of the Ofsted Childcare Register (OCR) in addition to being suitable for au pairs, babysitters, parents and anybody who cares for children and needs a basic course. The one day’s course (6 hours) is delivered at your venue and can be run at the weekend by your arrangement.

Course Objectives

On successfully completing this course the candidate will be able to demonstrate and understand, in compliance with OCR required syllabus:

  • First Aid Priorities
  • Dealing with an Emergency
  • Choking – Child and Baby
  • Resuscitation (CPR) – Child and baby
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Bleeding and Shock
  • Burns and Scalds
  • Eye and Ear Injuries
  • Fractures
  • Childhood illnesses including Meningitis and Febrile Convulsions

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment, there is no final examination. Those delegates who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are awarded a certificate that is valid for three years.
