Automated External Defibrillation

The Automated External Defibrillation (AED) course provides training in what is well established as the only effective therapy for cardiac arrest. The single most determinant of survival from a cardiac arrest is the delay from collapse to delivery of the first shock. The chances of successful defibrillation decline at a rate of 7-10% with each minute. Basic life support may help to sustain a shockable rhythm but is not a definitive treatment.

Course Objectives

This course offers a comprehensive programme based on the necessary theory, backed up with lots of practical sessions. It is run over half a day, and is made as informative, yet as enjoyable as possible, thus allowing the students to gain confidence in what is a new and possibly somewhat daunting skill.

In addition to training, advice is also available on areas such as company protocols, purchasing equipment and support with training and development.

Training conforms to current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines.

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment, there is no final examination. Those delegates who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are awarded a certificate that is valid for three years.

Course Duration

Various: The course duration will be based on the candidates experience and will comply with the standards set by the accredited bodies.
